因果性に基づく信念形成モデルと N 本腕バンディット問題への適用.Taguchi Ryo Shinohara Shuji - 2007 - Transactions of the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence 22 (1):58-68.
Through numbers of studies on the formation of equivalence relations and causal induction, it is known that human beings tend to consider conditional statements ``if p then q " as biconditional statements ``if and only if p then q ": we call the tendency to perceive ``if p then q " as ``if q then p " the ``symmetry bias". On the other hand, many studies on children's word learning have pointed out that children tend to expect each object has (...)

A diffractive and Deleuzian approach to analysing interview data.Hillevi Lenz Taguchi - 2012 - Feminist Theory 13 (3):265-281.
This article explores the possibilities of considering how ‘matter and meaning are mutually constituted’ in the production of knowledge (Barad, 2007: 152) through presenting a diffractive analysis of a piece of interview data with a six-year-old boy in a preschool class. Inspired by Donna Haraway’s (1997) and Karen Barad’s (2007) theorising, I understand diffractive analysis as an embodied engagement with the materiality of research data: a becoming-with the data as researcher. Understanding the body as a space of transit, a series (...)

Comprehension of conversational implicature in L2 Chinese.Naoko Taguchi, Shuai Li & Yan Liu - 2013 - Pragmatics and Cognition 21 (1):139-157.
This study examined the ability to comprehend conventional and non-conventional implicatures, and the effect of proficiency and learning context on comprehension of implicature in L2 Chinese. Participants were three groups of college students of Chinese: elementary-level foreign language learners, advanced-level foreign language learners, and advanced-level heritage learners. They completed a 36-item computer-delivered listening test measuring their ability to comprehend three types of implicature: conventional indirect refusals, conventional indirect opinions, and non-conventional indirect opinions. Comprehension was analyzed for accuracy and comprehension speed. (...)

Deconstructing and Transgressing the Theory—Practice dichotomy in early childhood education.Hillevi Lenz Taguchi - 2007 - Educational Philosophy and Theory 39 (3):275-290.
This article theorizes and exemplifies reconceptualized teaching practices, both in early childhood education (ECE) and in a couple of programs within the new Swedish Teacher Education (since 2001). These programs are tightly knit to the last 12 years of reconceptualized early childhood education practices in and around Stockholm, built on deconstructive, co‐constructive, and re‐constructive principles, inspired by poststructural and feminist poststructural theories. The aim is foremost to work towards a dissolution and/or transgression of the modernist theory‐practice binary that dominates ECE (...)

From Passive to Active: The Positive Spillover of Required Employee Green Behavior on Green Advocacy.Shujie Zhang, Shuang Ren & Guiyao Tang - 2024 - Journal of Business Ethics 192 (1):57-76.
This research investigates whether required employee green behavior can spill over to a proactive form of green behavior termed green advocacy. Drawing on self-perception theory, we theorize and test a moderated mediation model in which required employee green behavior is positively associated with green advocacy via the mediation of pro-environmental self-identity, with the strength of such association contingent upon employee moral identity. Data collected in three waves from 297 employees at a large manufacturing firm in China provide support for the (...)

    Moral explanation of moral judgements.Ryo Chonabayashi - 2023 - Theoria 89 (6):891-909.
Abstract“The wrongness of Albert's action causally explains why Jane judged that his action was wrong”. This type of causal moral explanation has been extensively discussed in the recent metaethical literature. This paper motivates the following claims about this type of moral explanation. First, a typical defence of this type of moral explanation suggested in the literature does not work because it predicts inaccurate modal information. Second, focusing on different aspects of the ways moral judgements are generated provides better chances for (...)

Mediation based phenomenology.Taguchi Shigeru - 2019 - Metodo. International Studies in Phenomenology and Philosophy 7 (2):17-44.
In this paper, I propose a possible reinterpretation of phenomenology using a newly defined concept of ‘mediation.’ First, I address the question: What are the ‘things themselves’ that are given as the result of the phenomenological epoché? I would answer that they are neither material objects nor merely subjective experiences, but rather specific occurrences of ‘mediations.’ Second, under the influence of the Japanese philosopher Hajime Tanabe, I will define ‘mediation’ as a non-separable occurrence of differentiating and connecting. Third, I shall (...)

Extreme obviousness and the "zero-person" perspective.Taguchi Shigeru - 2019 - Metodo. International Studies in Phenomenology and Philosophy:15-37.
Transcendental reflection does not simply withdraw from natural life and go somewhere else. On the contrary, it is a self-elucidation of natural life performed within this life itself. However, natural life has an inherent automatic system for concealing itself. Therefore, in order to make manifest the truly natural state of natural life, we need a deliberate method of outfoxing the natural attitude as it constantly tries to trick us. If so, the transcendental perspective is closely related to Husserl’s perplexing concept (...)

Cut‐Elimination Theorem for the Logic of Constant Domains.Ryo Kashima & Tatsuya Shimura - 1994 - Mathematical Logic Quarterly 40 (2):153-172.
The logic CD is an intermediate logic which exactly corresponds to the Kripke models with constant domains. It is known that the logic CD has a Gentzen-type formulation called LD and rules are replaced by the corresponding intuitionistic rules) and that the cut-elimination theorem does not hold for LD. In this paper we present a modification of LD and prove the cut-elimination theorem for it. Moreover we prove a “weak” version of cut-elimination theorem for LD, saying that all “cuts” except (...)

    Contraction-elimination for implicational logics.Ryo Kashima - 1997 - Annals of Pure and Applied Logic 84 (1):17-39.
We establish the “contraction-elimination theorem” which means that if a sequent Γ A is provable in the implicational fragment of the Gentzen's sequent calculus LK and if it satisfies a certain condition on the number of the occurrences of propositional variables, then it is provable without the right contraction rule. By this theorem, we get the following.1. If an implicational formula A is a theorem of classical logic and is not a theorem of intuitionistic logic, then there is a propositional (...)

    A localist turn for defending moral explanations.Ryo Chonabayashi - 2022 - Asian Journal of Philosophy 1 (2):1-23.
One influential positive argument for moral realism is the Explanatory Indispensability Argument. A crucial premise of this argument is the explanatory relevance of moral properties. On this premise, moral properties, such as wrongness, rightness, courage, and cowardice, are explanatorily indispensable to some empirical phenomena. Although there has been a lively debate on this premise, one crucial challenge to this thesis, what I call the Scientific Standard Challenge, has not been properly discussed. After explaining this challenge and a related concern, I (...)

Recapturing Dynamic Logic of Relation Changers via Bounded Morphisms.Ryo Hatano & Katsuhiko Sano - 2020 - Studia Logica 109 (1):95-124.
The present contribution shows that a Hilbert-style axiomatization for dynamic logic of relation changers is complete for the standard Kripke semantics not by a well-known rewriting technique but by the idea of an auxiliary semantics studied by van Benthem and Wang et al. A key insight of our auxiliary semantics for dynamic logic of relation changers can be described as: “relation changers are bounded morphisms.” Moreover, we demonstrate that this semantic insight can be used to provide a modular cut-free labelled (...)

Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to examine the internal mechanism of perceived support for innovation on deviant innovation behavior. Lonely hearts advertisements (LHA) published in Japan were examined in a comparative study on sexually dimorphic mate preference. I analyzed 944 LHA written by Japanese (730 by males and 214 by females) seeking short-term relationships and 780 LHA (577 by males and 203 by females) seeking long-term relationships. Some universal patterns of mate preference were confirmed and others were not. Female advertisers in both categories sought more traits than they offered; they also sought more traits than male advertisers. Males tended (...)

To investigate the relationship between logical reasoning and majority voting, we introduce logic with groups Lg in the style of Gentzen’s sequent calculus, where every sequent is indexed by a group of individuals. We also introduce the set-theoretical semantics of Lg, where every formula is interpreted as a certain closed set of groups whose members accept that formula. We present the cut-elimination theorem, and the soundness and semantic completeness theorems of Lg. Then, introducing an inference rule representing majority voting to (...)
